Historic & Nature Walks

The Astor House Historic District
Walk right outside our door with our self-guided tour booklet in hand and take a stroll back in time through the beautiful Astor neighborhood. Some of Wisconsin Territory’s earliest leaders resided here! The booklet provides interesting facts about the architecture, the people and the times to refer to as you walk along the tour route.

Fox River Trail
Only 2 blocks away find the perfect path for walking, jogging or biking and taking in the scenery. Grab a quick jog before work or take the time to discover the flora and fauna along the path.

Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary
Less than 15 minutes away is a free wildlife refuge open all year long. It is a great way to learn about the wildlife in Wisconsin. There are many hiking trails, animals and plenty of geese and ducks. The sanctuary also has a lot of planned events throughout the year.

Bay Beach & Amusement Park
3 miles down Monroe Avenue, this old-fashioned amusement park is open in the summer and has affordable entertainment for the entire family. It has many fun rides and concession stands.

Green Bay Botanical Garden
There are over 47 acres of beautiful gardens and it is open all year long. Each season looks different with many varieties of plants and flowers. There are a lot of different events and classes offered, and the Garden is just a 15 minute car ride away.

National Railroad Museum
This special Green Bay museum is an easy 10 minute drive from the Astor House. It is open all year long and has many exhibits, programs and special events about the American railroad. There are train rides available certain times of the year.

NEW Zoo
The NEW Zoo (Northeast Wisconsin Zoo) is a great zoo because it is just the right size. It isn’t too big but still has plenty of animals to see. It is also quite inexpensive. The NEW Zoo is 25 minutes from the Astor House, open all year long and has a lot of specials throughout the year.
