Green Bay’s Best Bird Watching Locations

The Great Wisconsin Birding and Nature Trail is a mapped auto trail that reaches into every area of the state, including Green Bay and its surrounding areas.  One of the best places to catch all of this stunning Wisconsin bird watching action is at Green Bay’s Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary.  This beautiful nature refuge features 700 acres of wildlife viewing opportunities, and is the second largest wildlife rehabilitation program in Wisconsin.  Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary is known for its significant concentrations of landbirds migrating through the property each spring and fall, thanks in large part to its diverse range of habitats, including forest, field, marsh, and open water habitats.  As you walk along the 6 miles of trails through the sanctuary, you’re bound to encounter a tremendous variety of birds, including a variety of waterfowl, Great Blue Herons, Cooper’s Hawks, Sandhill Cranes, Killdeer, woodpeckers, chickadees and other song birds, and so much more.

There are 9 miles of scenic hiking trails, in addition to the West Shores Interpretive Center.  The Cofrin Memorial Aboretum, another 270 acres of prime bird-watching habitats, is an important wildlife coridor in the Green Bay area.  Here, you’ll find a variety of birds, including the American Woodcock, waterfowl, and a variety of songbirds.  Grab your bird watching guides and binoculars, and book your next stay at our Green Bay Bed and Breakfast.
