Fishing in Green Bay
Whether you’re looking for that trophy fish, or just looking for a relaxing day on the water, Green Bay has the perfect fishing opportunity for you. In Lake Michigan, you’ll find the largest populations of Rainbow, brown, and lake trout. During the spring months, most fisherman find brown trout along the shorelines of the lake, which average 8-10 pounds. Though you can find Walleye year round, spring is a great time to troll the Bay of Green Bay in search of these popular fish, in addition to the smallmouth bass that fill the bay this time of year. Along Green Bay’s famous Fox River, which is Green Bay’s first body of water to open up for fishing in the year, you’ll most commonly find Walleye. As we head into the month of May, the limit of Walleye each fisherman is allowed to take from the Fox River increases from 1 a day to 5; another reason spring is a great time to do a little fishing in Green Bay! If you act fast, you may even be able to pull some Northern Pike from the waters as they head upstream for spawning. If you’d like a guide to help you to fishing success, then we recommend Allen’s Guide Service.
After a day of fishing Green Bay’s excellent waters, enjoy a spectacular meal at one of Green Bay’s many restaurants. Popular fish on the menu in April in May are Walleye, Perch, and Smelt–something you’ll find only in Green Bay. If you time it right, you can even enjoy a good old Friday Fish Fry. The best places to enjoy this fine Wisconsin tradition are the Redwood Inn, Twin Oaks, and Highland Howies. Book your room at our Green Bay Bed and Breakfast today, and come see why fishing is such a big part of life up here.
