Green Bay Winter: Get Outside and Have Fun!

Green BayThe holiday season is coming to an end, the longest and darkest day of the year has come and gone, and 2014 is nearly upon us.  As sunlight slowly begins to creep back into our lives over the coming winter months, we think a getaway to Green Bay, Wisconsin is the perfect way to spend a weekend.  In the winter, Green Bay is a virtual playground for anyone who likes to be outside.  Located in Brown County, Green Bay offers the outdoor enthusiast many unique opportunities to discover and explore this winter, from winter hiking, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling.  Stay with us at our historic Green Bay Bed and Breakfast, and these winter activities and more will be just minutes from your doorstep.

Winter Activities in Green Bay

For nature enthusiasts, Green Bay is home to parks and trails that are worth visiting throughout the winter.  At L.H. Barkhousen Waterfowl Preserve, spend the day getting lost in all 920 acres of forest, meadows and wetlands.  The preserve features 9 miles of scenic hiking trails, which are also groomed during the winter for cross-country skiing.  While in Green Bay, you should also visit the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary.  Situated on the bluffs of the Niagara Escarpment, the sanctuary offers a breathtaking view of the Bay of Green Bay, as well as miles of trails to explore on cross country skiis.  For even more winter fun, hit the 1,600 acres of cross-country skiing and snowmobiling trails at the Reforestation Camp, or the 260 acres of Neshota Park, which features beginning and intermediate trails, a dual side-by-side Nordic track, and a full width skate track.

Green BayOnce you’ve had your fun in the great outdoors, come back to our charming Green Bay Bed and Breakfast, where you can relax and unwind.  Sit and warm up by the cozy fireplaces, or enjoy a long soak in one of our whirlpool tubs.  There are also some Great spas in Green Bay for those winter aches after a day spent hiking, snowshoeing, or cross-country skiing.  We recommend Tranquility Spa in Green Bay, or Elite Aesthetics & Micro-Spa and The Day Spa in DePere.  Winter is a great time to stay in Green Bay.  We look forward to your stay at the Astor House Bed and Breakfast!
