Enjoy a Day on the Sandy Beaches of Algoma

Algoma WisconsinGreen Bay is a wonderful town to visit in Northern Wisconsin.  As Wisconsin’s oldest settlement, and with plenty to do and see in Green Bay, it has become a popular weekend getaway destination for many.  But for many, Green Bay is also a stopping off point along the way, as they explore the quiet and beautiful reaches of shoreline that extend beyond this historic town.  One such place to explore along the quiet shores of Lake Michigan is the sleepy little town of Algoma.  Make us your home base during your trip to Green Bay this spring, and enjoy the quiet exploration of Wisconsin’s most beautiful region.

A Relaxing Day in Algoma

Located just a short 45 minutes away from Downtown Green Bay, Algoma is a picturesque town, situated on the sandy shores of Lake Michigan.  No matter what you’re looking for, whether it’s spending the day fishing on Lake Michigan, meandering along the beautiful sandy beach and boardwalk, shopping, sightseeing, or just relaxing by the beach with a glass of wine, Algoma has something for you.  Outdoor Recreational opportunities abound, with Lake Butte des Morts to the north, the Fox River and Lake Winnebago nearby, and of course expansive Lake Michigan in our backyard.  If you’ve ever wanted to try your hand at fishing Wisconsin waters, there couldn’t be a better place than Algoma.  This sleepy little town is known as the salmon and trout capital of the Midwest, and is home to a strong fishing industry.

Algoma WisconsinLighthouse lovers won’t want to miss a stop at the photogenic steel tower lighthouse, before heading on to the quaint shops of downtown Algoma.  Don’t miss the Flying Pig Gallery & Greenspace, where you’ll find a unique shopping experience set amidst a beautiful garden. If you’re looking for some easy recreation, grab a bike or take a walk down a portion of the 40-mile long scenic Ahnapee State Trail or the town’s famous Crescent Beach Boardwalk.  Renard’s Cheese is also a fun place to stop in for some traditional Wisconsin cheese curds.  After a day of exploring, stop in for a glass of wine at von Stiehl Winery, Wisconsin’s oldest winery offering tastings and tours, followed by dinner at Skaliwag’s.  Escape to our Green Bay Bed and Breakfast this spring, and take the time to explore the quiet community of Algoma on the shores of Lake Michigan.
