It’s Spring in Green Bay; Let’s go Biking!

Green Bay BikingWith such diverse displays of natures beauty throughout the great state of Wisconsin there is no shortage of outdoor adventure to be had, and Green Bay is no different.  The city of Green Bay offers scenic trails year around for outdoor enthusiasts of all types.  Wisconsin has frequently been named as one of the top bicycling destinations in the nation, and it’s no wonder why.  Biking is a healthy and family oriented experience that can be enjoyed by anyone.  With more than 80 trails in the “rails-to-trails” system, and hundreds of miles on quiet country roads or through peaceful forests, Wisconsin boasts a biking friendly culture.  If you’re a biking enthusiast, then book your room at the Astor House Bed and Breakfast, located in the heart of Downtown Green Bay, and get ready to experience the charms of the Greater Green Bay on your bike.

Green Bay Biking Trails

One of the most prominent multi-use trails in Green Bay is the popular Fox River State Trail.  You’ll enjoy biking down the 25 miles of this trail, as it meanders along the Fox River from downtown Green Bay, through the charming cities of Allouez, De Pere, Rockland, Wrightstown, and Holland.  Along the way, you’ll pass wonderful points of interest, including Voyager park, the Claude Allouez Bridge, and the De Pere lock and dam, which is one of the few manually operated systems left in the country.  Another popular trail in the area, which is part of the “rails-to-trails” movement, is the Mountain-Bay State Trail.  This beautiful trail, at 83 miles long, is one of the longest rail-trails in Wisconsin, traveling between Rib Mountain and Green Bay.  Along the way, you’ll pass through a variety of landscapes including farmlands, forests and wetlands, and will ride over many scenic bridges and streams.  There are even a series of interpretive signs along the way, depicting early history of the county and the former rail line from which the trail was created.

Green Bay bikingIf you’re looking for a more intense biking challenge in Green Bay, then we suggest you head to the trails found within the Reforestation camp; a popular destination for Green Bay mountain biking.  Within the 1,600 acres of this pristine land, you’ll find many miles of trails up to meeting your challenge, featuring a combination of both single and double track trails.  No matter what type of trails you like to ride, Green Bay has something to offer you.  Strap the bikes on the car, and head to Green Bay for a wonderful weekend of biking this spring.  We look forward to your stay.
