In the local Green Bay area, Ice shacks need to be removed by March 16, marking the rapid end to the ice fishing season. However, along the Fox River in DePere, you’ll still find Walleyes, where anglers are fishing through the ice as conditions continue to deteriorate.  In Wisconsin, there are opportunities for year-round fishing on some waters and for some species, but there are set seasons and regulations for certain species and regions.  Typically, opening day for Wisconsin fishing is the first Saturday in May, which marks the season for hook and line fishing for many fish species throughout the state.  This regular fishing season includes species such as certain Bass species, Walleye and Sauger, Northern Pike and Muskellunge.  The early inland trout season on selected waters runs from 5 a.m. on the first Saturday in March (March 1, 2014) through the Sunday preceding the first Saturday in May (April 27, 2014).  The regular inland trout season runs from May 3, 2014 to Sept. 30, 2014.  In Brown County, there are several great trout fishing streams to choose from.  Gilson Creek and Thornberry Creek are both rated Class I streams, while Wilson Creek and Lancaster Creek are both Class II streams.
