Green Bay Holiday Traditions
Join us this weekend as we kick off the holiday season right. On Friday, join us for the Lighting Ceremony on Broadway, get some early shopping done at the Broadway District’s stores with special holiday deals, and then on Saturday join us for the 31st Annual AT&T Green Bay Holiday Parade, featuring marching bands, floats, giant helium balloons and, of course, Santa. This year, entries will depict a “Toyland Christmas,” and is sure to be a fantastic display of holiday-themed fun. Starting Thanksgiving weekend, head down to the National Railroad Museum, who will host the annual Festival of Trees. Though tickets are sold out for this year, you might want to mark your calendars next year to ride the fantastic Polar Express at the National Railroad Museum. This exciting event features the classic Christmas that is brought to life in a dramatic reading and train ride. The annual Garden of Lights at the Green Bay Botanical garden is another wonderful Green Bay holiday tradition that should not be missed. You’ll walk through nearly a quarter of a million sparkling lights, as the garden is transformed into a stunning winter landscape featuring botanical light displays inspired by its natural features. Refreshments, holiday music, and a special model train display are also part of the magic at this fantastic holiday event.
Spread some holiday cheer when you join Green Bay Metro on the holiday lights tour, as we check out lights and window displays in the Downtown, Olde Main and Broadway Districts. You’ll also find a special treat when you stop in our very own historic Astor Park Neighborhood to see the beautiful luminaries. If you’re looking for a little holiday fun while in Green Bay, then head to the Green Bay Holiday Dance Classic, or catch one of the many great shows around town. The Green Bay Symphony Orchestra is bringing the Christmas spirit to town with the annual Holiday Pops concert, the Meyer is presenting Northeastern Wisconsin Dance Organization’s (NEWDO) Nutcracker Ballet, and Green Bay’s Let Me Be Frank productions is bringing you “A Frank’s Christmas at Pranges,” a magical and heart-warming story just in time for the holidays. Stay with us at the Astor House Bed and Breakfast this winter, and experience the magic of a Green Bay holiday.
