Fun Green Bay Activities this Spring
Running in marathons has become an increasingly popular sport for people of all ages and abilities, and is considered a hallmark fitness achievmant for many. The 26.2 mile distance is no easy task for these athletes, but year after year they return to the popular Green Bay marathon from destinations all around the world. Mile after grueling mile these athletes endure, and it’s no wonder they look equal parts elated and exhausted at the crossing of the finish line. It’s no doubt a huge sense of accomplishment. There’s still time to register for the 2015 Green Bay Marathon this year, but even if you don’t plan to run, you can still come down to watch the spectacle and cheer on those brave athletes that do participate in this enduring Green Bay tradition. Afterwards, there will be a tailgate-themed party at none other than Green Bay’s Lambeau Field.
If a marathon seems to big a task, there are still plenty of other Green Bay activities for you to enjoy, including some smaller walks and runs. A popular event, which also happens to be closely tied to the history of the Astor House itself, is the Bellin Run in June. The Bellin Run is an annual 10k run in Green Bay, and has grown to be one of th largest 10K races in the nation. Dr. Bellin, who once lived in the Astor House, was a prominent physician and surgeon in Green Bay in the early 1900s. He founded Bellin Hospital and Bellin School of Nursing, ultimately leading Green Bay to become a major regional medical center for Northeast Wisconsin. Located just 3 blocks from Bellin Hospital, the Astor House is both a convenient and relaxing place to stay during the Bellin Run, made better by the relaxing whirlpool tubs waiting for you upon completion of your run. Rooms will go quick, so book your stay at the Astor House Bed and Breakfast today.
